A Hot Water Bottle Is Wonderful on a Cold Night
If you live in a snowy area and do not have a heating pad at the foot of your bed, I beg you to change your mind. Of course, you can wear warm socks or put your feet under the person or dog. But dogs don’t stay where they are, and people tend to shout, “Uh-huh! Your feet are cold! “Before flipping over and stealing your cover.
The hot water bottle doesn’t have any of these drawbacks, and it keeps your feet even hotter. No, I do not mean a heated bottle of drinking water , although in a pinch it will do. We are talking about rubber bottles designed for this very purpose. I am partial to wide -necked ones as they are easier to fill without splashing hot water on myself, but the traditional red rubber model will work as well.
On an average winter night, I fill a bottle with hot tap water. But if it’s one of those chilling, blizzard nights, I’ll heat some water on the stove. (The instructions do not recommend using boiling water, but I like living on the edge.) Be careful when pouring the water, then screw the cap back on tightly. If you have a cute knit coziness , put it on.
The cap absorbs water that drips onto the outside of the bottle, but more importantly, it prevents heat from escaping too quickly. The toughest toes will grow if you roll up a bottle with a bath towel and place it with you under a pile of heavy blankets. It can even be warm in the morning.
