How to Automatically Turn Off Annoying Autoplay Videos in Google Chrome
At some point, the publishers of many of the sites I visited frequently decided that it would be a good idea to start using autoplay videos. While I think they think that when the video starts playing I will somehow be drawn to their charming host and majestic background music, as a result, I am often intimidated by the sudden explosion of sound trying to figure out how to stop. video, then cursing the site’s creator and vowing never to visit his site again. It is until the next day when I repeat this process.
Yes, there are ways to block most of them (and ads in general), but as someone who literally makes a living by watching ads on the Internet, I strongly oppose using them.
Google is now offering some sort of solution in the newest version of Chrome.
Chrome 64, which was released in beta on Friday, lets you turn off automatic video playback by default. It ultimately plans to block autoplaying videos entirely, a feature due in January, The Verge reports.
You can try disabling autoplay right now by downloading the beta version of your browser .
Videos are not disabled by default across the board, you will have to do this for each site through the Chrome permission panel. But it can be a much needed relief from those sites you love to visit but hate watching videos.
Chrome 64 also includes an improved pop-up blocker, better security, preventing malware from being automatically redirected somewhere, among other improvements.
