How to Install Beta Android 8.0 Oreo on Galaxy Note 8

Samsung has already released the beta of Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy S8 , but if you’re using the company’s latest smartphone, you’re still stuck with last year’s Nougaty operating system – until now. The Oreo beta for the Galaxy Note 8 has been leaked this week, and you can install it now with a little effort.

GadgetHacks has a detailed guide on how to download and install a leaked Android beta for your Galaxy Note 8. Before you start, you need to make sure you are using the US version of your phone that has a Snapdragon processor and not a Snapdragon processor. the international version, which uses Samsung’s own chip. You will also need a microSD card and a file management application such as Solid Explorer .

The tech blog also notes that there are indeed a few bugs in this beta. For example, the Samsung Camera app may experience zoom issues and you won’t be able to use the Note 8 with a Gear VR headset. Battery life may also decrease and some third-party applications may not work as well. So be sure to back up your phone in case you change your mind or need to do a factory reset.

If none of this has stopped you, it’s time to get started. First, you need to download the Samsung Nougat BQK2 firmware and save it as a ZIP file on your phone’s microSD card. Then open the file manager application and make sure it is saved there under the name update.zip.

Then turn off your phone and boot it into recovery mode. To do this, press and hold the Power button, Volume button and Bixby button at the same time for a few seconds. The screen will turn blue and you will see the Android mascot followed by an exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle. At this point, you can release the buttons.

Using the volume keys to navigate, select “Apply update from SD card” and confirm by pressing the power button. Then use the same buttons to select the “update.zip” file. After installation, your phone will automatically reboot.

Now you need to install the Oreo firmware . Again, save it as a ZIP file on your microSD and confirm it is there with your file manager. It should appear with the name “BQK2 (N OS) to CQL1 (OREO) .zip”, but you can rename the file with a long press. Then turn off your phone and boot it into recovery mode as before.

When your Galaxy Note 8 turns on again, select “Apply Update from SD Card” using the Volume and Power buttons to navigate. Then select the Oreo file and it will start installing. It should take about ten minutes, but once it’s done and your phone restarts, you’re done.
