Bypass

Tryg K and others recommend a drive along Highway 280 between San Jose and San Francisco, and not on the highway 101. The_Hero_We_Deserve gives a warning: “101 might be the best option, if the off-peak hours, and you go somewhere close to the highway and you are in a hurry. Cellular services for 280 seats can be a little unstable. ”
E = MC Hammered lists a few good places in downtown San Jose, “which sometimes get a bad reputation, but I really like it. There are farmers markets, craft fairs and events, grocery stores … almost every weekend. “
Cultural Brief: “Silicon Valley is home to some of the most beautiful suburban downtowns in the United States. Pick a city — Los Gatos, Burlingame, Willow Glen, Redwood City, and Mountain View come to mind — and all of the main street districts are reminiscent of the incredibly wealthy Star Hollows. Cafes, bookstores, restaurants, ice cream shops and boutiques. They are all good places to stroll with an overpriced latte or bean and display case. ” – Joey
“Before renting from Enterprise, check out Turo. (It’s like AirBnB, but for cars.) Silicon Valley tends to have a lot of interesting cars at reasonable prices. Suggest a hike or mountain bike ride to Alum Rock Park. Both the North and South Rim trails have stunning views of the entire valley, from South San Jose to Moffett Field and beyond on a truly clear day. But if you’re looking for something a little more challenging, try the Boccrado Loop Trail. And if you’re a little more hardcore, you can also try the Sierra Vista Trail (Boccrado and Sierra Vista join at the park).

San Jose Historical Museum: “An open park with historic buildings and vehicles. There is a train garage with a bunch of locomotives and cars, and sometimes they drive through the park in an electric cart. There is also the Japanese Friendship Garden in San Jose next door in Kelly Park. ” – I, Podius
