‘Vorssaint’ Has Replaced at Least 10 Utilities on My Mac.

Many Mac apps perform a single task, and do it quite well. For example, KeyboardCleanTool lets you temporarily disable your Mac keyboard while you clean it of dust, food debris, and grime. I love apps like these, but constantly installing utilities can make everything feel overwhelming; it can be hard to even remember that you have an app installed for a specific task. That’s where Vorssaint comes in: it’s an all-in-one Mac tool that combines over 75 utilities into one free resource.
The great thing is that you can choose which of these utilities you want to enable—if you only need five of Vorssaint’s features, you can disable the rest. This prevents the app from consuming excessive resources, which is especially valuable for owners of older, basic MacBook models. However, while Vorssaint has replaced many apps on my MacBook, it’s not always better than the apps it replaces. For example, if you use Vorssaint to set a custom volume level for every Mac app , that doesn’t mean Vorssaint can do everything SoundSource can .
Vorssaint is a tool that does a little bit of everything, but it’s not perfect at anything, and that’s perfectly fine for most people. If that’s exactly what you need, Vorssaint might be a great solution. Here are 10 Vorssaint features I used instead of apps on my MacBook:
Use the Super key to replace Caps Lock modifier applications.
Unless you’re obsessed with constantly appearing like you’re shouting, you probably don’t need the Caps Lock key at all. You can always hold Shift to capitalize something, and in my opinion, Caps Lock should be used for something more useful. Apps like Raycast let you convert Caps Lock into a “hyperkey,” meaning that when you press it, your computer registers it as a combination of other modifier keys. On my MacBook, pressing Caps Lock is the same as holding Command-Control-Shift-Alt simultaneously, and I’ve used this to create keyboard shortcuts that don’t conflict with shortcuts in macOS or third-party apps.
To enable this feature in Vorssaint, open the app and go to Settings > Features . Go to Mouse & Keyboard and enable Super Key . Vorssaint allows you to assign modifier keys to the Caps Lock key. This also allows you to continue using this key to change case, switch input sources, or as an alternative to pressing Esc (useful for keyboards that don’t have this key). The Super Key feature only works when you hold down the Caps Lock key, and pressing the key once toggles your chosen function.
Try Vorssaint’s built-in clipboard manager.
Mac’s built-in Spotlight includes a basic clipboard manager , but Vorssaint adds several new features. The app lets you clear tracking data from URLs and even adds a “Cut and Paste” feature to Finder on your Mac. The latter is great for those switching from Windows, as the cut/paste feature in Finder isn’t as convenient as on Microsoft platforms.
Once these features are enabled in Vorssaint, you can cut any file in Finder by pressing Command-X and paste it elsewhere with Command-V . The URL cleanup feature is customizable, allowing you to define the parameters for removal. It also allows you to create filters for specific websites, reducing the likelihood of corrupting URLs when using this feature. By default, Vorssaint automatically cleans links immediately after copying them, but you can clean links manually within the app if desired.
The app’s clipboard manager has all the essential basic features and also allows you to exclude certain apps. This prevents Vorssaint from saving clipboard items from sensitive apps. To view your clipboard history in Vorssaint, use the keyboard shortcut Command-Option-Alt-V .
Use Vorssaint disk image installer instead of Rapidmg.
I use Rapidmg , a popular Mac app installer format, to automatically mount and install DMG files. After installing the app, Rapidmg also deletes the installer file. Vorssaint has this feature built-in, and you can enable it by going to Vorssaint Preferences > Features > Disk Image Installer . It’s located under “Clipboard and Files.”
Try free volume mixer to control volume in every app.
If you’re looking for an app to set individual volume levels for each app on your Mac , Vorssaint offers a suitable tool. It’s good enough to replace basic volume control apps like FineTune , but nowhere near as powerful as SoundSource . Vorssaint lets you set the volume level for each app, quickly switch between output devices, and even prioritize audio devices. It doesn’t support sending audio to multiple devices simultaneously, adjusting the latency level, increasing the volume beyond the maximum value, or sending audio from specific apps only to specific output devices (for example, Spotify always sends audio to headphones, VLC always sends audio to speakers, etc.). If you value power-user features, SoundSource is your best choice. For most users, Vorssaint is perfectly adequate. You can enable the in-app volume mixer by going to Vorssaint Preferences > Features > Volume Mixer . It’s located in the Sound section of the app.
Use “Keep awake” instead of amphetamine.
There are many compelling reasons to prevent your Mac from going to sleep, such as connecting your MacBook to an external display and using the laptop with the lid closed. Apps like Amphetamine allow you to prevent your Mac from going to sleep, and Vorssaint also has this feature built in. You can use it by enabling the “Prevent Sleep” feature in the app, which allows you to disable sleep on your Mac for a set amount of time, from 15 minutes to indefinitely.
Replace screen-hogging apps with Vorssaint’s built-in dynamic island.
If your MacBook lacks the Dynamic Island feature available on the iPhone, you can install one of several useful screen cutout apps on your Mac . These apps display a playback widget, brightness or volume levels , calendars, or even have a time bar for dragging and dropping files onto your Mac. Vorssaint also comes with a screen cutout app: Dynamic Island. Once enabled, Vorssaint’s Dynamic Island can display notifications, calendar events, timers, song lyrics, the playback queue, and more. Note that this feature is labeled “Experimental” in the app, meaning it’s not as stable as most other features. I also used it to activate other Vorssaint features, such as Stay Awake and the volume mixer, since Dynamic Island displays switches to control them.
Monitor system statistics with Vorssaint’s CPU, GPU, and memory monitors.
iStat Menus is one of my favorite Mac apps ; it allows you to monitor the current load and operating temperature of my MacBook. Vorssaint also allows you to monitor CPU load, GPU load, RAM usage, network usage, battery temperature, and more. It’s not as elegant as iStat Menus, but it’s fine for those who need a basic system statistics monitor. However, in my tests, I noticed that Vorssaint was reporting CPU temperature inaccurately. Two other apps ( iStat Menus and TG Pro ) showed my Mac’s CPU temperature at around 40°C (104°F), while Vorssaint kept showing a value closer to 63°C (145°F). All other temperature readings were virtually identical across the three apps, indicating that Vorssaint likely has a bug that needs to be fixed.
Try using modifiers to enhance the Dock on your Mac.
Vorssaint can also replace apps that improve the Dock experience on your Mac . It lets you enable features like previewing open windows when you hover over an app icon in the Dock, closing apps from the Dock preview, minimizing, hiding, or switching between app windows by clicking the Dock icon, and more. One useful feature lets you press the green button to maximize any app window to full screen, instead of switching to full-screen mode. I don’t use it myself, but I can recommend it to anyone switching from Windows who asks about the maximize button.
Vorssaint’s mouse modifiers replace “mouse fix” apps on Mac.
macOS doesn’t always let you use your mouse the way you want. Third-party “mouse fixes” add useful features like smooth scrolling, customizable side button actions, and so on. Vorssaint includes support for smooth scrolling and several other features. It lets you assign additional mouse buttons to custom keyboard shortcuts and even has a feature to prevent accidental double-clicks. The latter is useful for those who have trouble double-clicking. You can enable these features in the “Mouse & Keyboard” section of Vorssaint.
Use Cleaning Mode to temporarily disable your keyboard while you clean it.
Apps like KeyboardCleanTool allow you to temporarily disable your Mac’s keyboard so you can thoroughly clean it or let your cat sit on it without disturbing your work. Vorssaint also supports this feature—you can enable it by toggling “Cleaning Mode” in the “Tools” section of the app. After locking the keyboard, you can either click the “Unlock” button or press the Esc key five times to resume typing.
