This Kindle Paperwhite Signature Is 32% Off During Prime Day in October.
As part of Amazon’s October Prime Day sale, the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is slashed from $249.99 to $169.99, $80 less than the most feature-packed Paperwhite. The price makes this deal even more appealing, as Amazon raised prices on most Kindle models in August, citing the increased cost of memory and storage. The standard 16GB Paperwhite model has gone up from $159.99 to $199.99, putting the Signature Edition at $30 less than the base model (though it’s currently on sale for $149.99 as part of Prime Day ). A few days ago, Amazon also unveiled a refreshed Kindle lineup , including a Paperwhite Signature with an aluminum back in a fun Seaglass Green color, but it costs $249.99 and won’t be available until October 28th.
The Paperwhite Signature, like the standard model, features a seven-inch E-Ink display with a 300 ppi resolution and IPX8 water resistance, making it perfect for taking to the pool or reading in the bath. However, it outshines its competitors with additional features, starting with an ad-free lock screen and a backlight that automatically adjusts based on your surroundings, eliminating the need to adjust the brightness every time you go from a sunny patio to reading in bed. Storage also doubles from 16 GB to 32 GB, which is likely more than most ebook libraries need (by the way, did you know you can get two free ebooks this month?), but leaves extra room for audiobooks, comics, and large PDFs. Bluetooth headphones are required for audio playback, as there’s no headphone jack.
Another convenience the standard Paperwhite lacks is 10W Qi wireless charging, though you’ll need your own wireless charger and power adapter. The 2024 model is also noticeably faster than older Paperwhites: Amazon claims page turns are 25% faster than the 2021 generation —in PCMag’s review, this difference was noticeable when turning on the device, browsing the library, and turning pages. But at $170 as part of the Prime Big Deal Day promotion, these extra features are much easier to justify.
