Spotify and Claude Are Not Working.
If you’re having trouble launching your Spotify playlists this morning, you’re not alone. The music streaming platform is currently down for at least tens of thousands of users. According to Downdetector, nearly 40,000 reports of issues have been received since 9:31 AM ET , with the latest batch arriving at 10:24 AM. Spotify confirmed the issue in a post on X , writing, “We’re aware of some issues and we’re investigating!”
Interestingly, the Spotify outage coincided with an outage in Claude, Anthropic’s AI platform. Downdetector shows tens of thousands of user reports regarding this issue, and Anthropic confirmed the issue with Claude : “We are investigating reports of performance degradation affecting claude.ai , platform.claude.com , the Claude API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. We will provide an update as soon as possible.”
It’s unclear why these services are down this morning, or whether they’re related. However, Spotify and Anthropic will likely resume their platforms soon. Typically, such intermittent outages are resolved within hours, if not minutes, except for major issues like a cloud hosting provider outage. Last year’s AWS outage “broke the internet,” as did the Cloudflare outage in November . There’s currently no reason to believe the same will happen here.
