A similar issue is occurring with the latest Apple Watch models . Although the Series 12 and Ultra 4 apparently don’t use Face ID, users are still experiencing random reboots—and this isn’t a coincidence. Unlike iPhone 18 Pro users, Apple Watch users experiencing this issue aren’t doing anything specific during the reboot. They might be exercising, interacting with Siri AI, or using the Maps app, and then suddenly the Apple logo appears. Some tests have suggested the neural processing unit is to blame, but Apple has yet to confirm the exact cause.

However, Apple has found a solution to the reboot issues on all of these devices, although the fix is currently only available for the Apple Watch. On Wednesday, Apple released watchOS 27.0.1 exclusively for Series 12 and Ultra 4 users, which the company says should eliminate random reboots in the future. While there’s no fix yet for iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max users, Apple confirmed to 9to5Mac that an update is in the works.
Therefore, if random reboots are the only issue, don’t take your new iPhone 18 Pro to an Apple Store. While some Apple Store employees have already replaced faulty devices, an upcoming software update should resolve the issue. The exact release date for the update is unknown, but it is expected to be called iOS 27.0.1, similar to watchOS 27.0.1.
