Woot has the Fitbit Google Ace LTE marked down to $113.47, a significant reduction from its original price of $179.95 and, according to price-tracking sites, the lowest price this watch has ever sold for. The same watch is currently $133.11 on Amazon , making Woot’s offer worth considering if you’re buying a smartwatch for a child aged 7 to 11. However, Woot notes that this deal is for “unboxed items”—meaning, although the packaging has been previously opened (perhaps for demonstration or testing), the device itself is new. Prime members also receive free shipping (while everyone else pays $6), though shipping is limited to the 48 contiguous US states.
The smartwatch is durable and relatively easy for kids to use, yet it boasts a playful approach thanks to animated characters, games, and movement challenges built into the user interface. Games are linked to activity goals—depending on the game, they’ll need to reach the target level of movement every 5-10 minutes before they can continue, giving them a reason to get up and move throughout the day while using the watch. Beyond games, the Ace LTE includes the basic features you’d expect from a connected kids’ watch, including calls, text messages, GPS location tracking, and parental controls via the Fitbit Ace app, which works with both iPhone and Android devices .
There are a few limitations to be aware of, including the lack of music playback and sleep tracking apps. With this subscription, children can use the watch to send and receive calls and messages, and parents can use it to check their location, making it useful for more than just activity tracking. However, without Ace Pass, the watch is essentially limited to basic movement and step tracking, making the additional cost less justifiable when the simpler Fitbit Ace 3 offers these features for less.
