A GoPro is great for shooting video, but it’s not very convenient if you hate having to lug it around on adventures. That’s the beauty of the GoPro Lit Hero : at just 95 grams, it’s truly tiny—small enough to fit in a jacket pocket or clip to a bike helmet all day long. The Lit Hero is currently marked down to $224 from its original price of $270 in October 2025, the lowest price currently recorded by price tracking services .
It records video in up to 4K resolution at 60 fps, takes 12 MP photos, and is waterproof to a depth of 5 meters without the need for an additional housing, making it practical for casual travel, bike rides, trips to the beach, or short vacation videos. Startup speed is fast, autofocus is reliable, and the battery lasts for approximately 90 minutes of continuous shooting (the battery is sealed and can’t be replaced mid-day). The built-in LED flashlight is also brighter than expected for such a small camera, though it seems more useful underwater or in emergency situations than for everyday shooting.
On the downside, the extremely small 1.76-inch touchscreen can be difficult to navigate, especially outdoors or with wet hands. With virtually no physical controls, almost everything relies on tapping the menu on the tiny display. There’s also no built-in image stabilization; instead, you’ll have to transfer your footage to the GoPro Quik app and apply stabilization afterwards, which adds an extra step. While image quality is decent in bright light, the small 1/2.8-inch sensor struggles in dim light, producing blurry footage with visible noise. If you’re color-correcting or post-processing your footage, you won’t have much flexibility, as there’s no Log mode or meaningful manual adjustments.
Overall, the Lit Hero is more like a compact point-and-shoot action camera than a smaller version of the Hero Black—it’s a perfect choice for beginners who prioritize convenience and size over image quality. But if those are important factors, at its current discounted price, it’s a good choice.
