The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Smartphone Is Now on Sale With a $250 Discount.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 smartphone with 512GB of storage is now on sale for $1,849.99, down from $2,099.99. That’s a savings of $250, or about 12%, and according to price-tracking sites , it’s the lowest price yet. Samsung unveiled it at its Galaxy Unpacked event in July, along with the now-discounted Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8. The standard Fold 8 is slightly different from the taller Ultra—it has a shorter and wider shape, making its 7.6-inch internal display more suitable for tasks like watching videos, reading ebooks, browsing the web, or working with documents.
The larger 1848-pixel foldable display also uses a more media-friendly aspect ratio than earlier Fold models, helping to reduce the thick black bars that can appear around videos. PCMag noted this improvement in its “excellent” review of the Z Fold 8 , also noting that Samsung has made the crease less noticeable. Inside, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor paired with 12GB of memory and Android 17 provides the phone with enough power for gaming and the multitasking that makes a foldable phone truly useful—for example, you can keep a video call open next to a document or compare two shopping apps without constantly switching between them.
As for battery life, the 4,800 mAh battery lasted 16 hours and 30 minutes in PCMag’s tests, a good result for a foldable device. The camera system, however, is less convincing: the dual 50-megapixel rear cameras are adequate for everyday photography, but overall results are reportedly quite average for such an expensive phone, and it lacks a telephoto lens for optical zoom. Furthermore, while Samsung has now made it easier to switch from an iPhone , iPhone users might want to compare it to Apple’s recently announced foldable device ( pre-orders for which are now open following the company’s September hardware event ) before making the switch. That said, Android users looking for a compact phone-tablet hybrid may find the Fold 8 appealing at this record-low price.
