Six Great Smartphone Deals for Labor Day.

There’s no denying that tech is expensive right now. The memory crisis has forced companies to raise prices on everything, and smartphones are no exception. If you’re shopping for a new phone, you might be feeling the pressure, and while you can certainly consider carrier deals and various data plans, don’t overlook these Labor Day discounts . While this holiday isn’t known for smartphone discounts, Best Buy and Amazon have some decent deals. Below are six of the best I found.
Save $300 on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung’s flagship foldable smartphone. It’s also very expensive: its retail price is $2,099.99, which puts it on par with a souped-up laptop. It’s currently discounted by $300 on Amazon. It’s still quite pricey at $1,799.99, but according to Keepa, this is the best price for the Z Fold 8 Ultra in the last three months. For that price, you get a 6.5-inch outer screen (larger than many standard smartphones) that opens up to reveal an 8-inch inner display. The device has three rear cameras: one 200-megapixel wide-angle, one 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, and one 10-megapixel telephoto. (The front camera is also 10-megapixel.) It runs on a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with 12GB of RAM and comes with 256GB of internal storage.
Save $150 on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8
On the other hand (pun intended), there’s the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Amazon has slashed the price of Samsung’s flagship foldable smartphone by $150 for Labor Day, a 13% discount off its $1,199.99 MSRP. This model features a fully functional 4.1-inch cover screen that flips open to reveal a 6.7-inch main display. It has dual rear cameras: a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, as well as a 10-megapixel front-facing camera. It’s powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with 12GB of RAM as the Z Fold 8 Ultra. This discount applies to the 256GB model.
Save $125 on the Samsung Galaxy S26
If you’re looking for one of Samsung’s standard smartphones, check out this Galaxy S26 deal . Best Buy is currently selling it for $774.99, which is $125 off the retail price of $899.99. This phone features a 6.3-inch display with a 1080p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s also powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with 12GB of RAM, so performance should be on par with the company’s foldable and rollable phones. It has three rear cameras (50MP wide-angle, 12MP ultra-wide, and 10MP telephoto) and a single 12MP front-facing camera.
Save $250 on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
Anyone looking for the best standard Samsung phones should check out this Galaxy S26 Ultra deal . For Labor Day, Best Buy is taking $250 off this device, bringing the price down from $1,299.99 to $1,049.99. This “pro” Samsung smartphone features a 6.9-inch 1440p display with a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as four rear cameras (200MP main, 50MP periscope telephoto, 10MP telephoto, and 50MP ultrawide). (There’s also a 12MP front-facing camera for selfies.) Since this is an Ultra, it also comes with a Samsung S Pen stylus for those who need it.
Save $150 on the iPhone Air
Apple is about to announce a whole new lineup of iPhones, so now might not be the best time to buy a new device. However, if you need an iPhone right now or have been eyeing the iPhone Air, here’s a great deal: Best Buy has slashed the price of the iPhone Air with 256GB of storage by $150 . That brings the price down from $999.99 to $849.99. As the name suggests, this is Apple’s thinnest and lightest iPhone yet: it’s 5.6mm thick and has a 6.5-inch display with a 1260p resolution. There’s only one rear camera, but it’s a 48-megapixel sensor, so you have plenty of pixels to work with. (There’s also an 18-megapixel selfie camera on the front.) The Air currently runs on the A19 Pro processor, Apple’s latest chip, and while the company will almost certainly announce the A20 Pro next week, it’s likely to support the A19 Pro for years to come. (It’s required for some of Apple’s future AI features.)
Save $151 on iPhone 13 mini (Refurbished).
I wouldn’t normally recommend buying a five-year-old iPhone, but this is a special case. Best Buy is currently selling refurbished iPhone 13 minis for $224, $151 off the regular retail price of $375. (Note: Its original MSRP was much higher.) If you miss the small smartphones that used to be, this could be a great buy. The 13 mini was Apple’s last “small” iPhone, and unless the market changes dramatically, the company will likely never release anything like it again. This model has a 5.4-inch 1080p display, 128GB of RAM, dual rear cameras (12MP wide, 12MP ultra-wide), and a single 12MP front-facing camera. Apple still supports its A15 Bionic chip and will likely support it for at least a couple more years. (The iPhone 11, released two years earlier, still supports iOS 27.) It’s not the phone to buy if you want Apple’s best iPhone or to experiment with Apple Intelligence, but it’s the phone to buy if you want the best, most compact iPhone.
