Microsoft Outlook Is Unavailable.
If you’re trying to check your email or send an email in Microsoft Outlook, but the app isn’t working, you’re not alone. As of Monday afternoon, Outlook is down for many users. This is obvious to anyone who can’t get the app to work: Downdetector, which displays user reports of app crashes, shows tens of thousands of messages as of 3:00 PM ET, and while the number appears to be decreasing, thousands more continue to arrive with every page refresh.
As reported by CNET , Microsoft officially confirmed the outage. The company posted a message on its Microsoft 365 Status X account , stating: “We’ve identified an issue with the authentication component that is impacting system functionality. To address this, we’ve developed a mitigation strategy and are rolling it out to a portion of the infrastructure to test its effectiveness. Once we confirm this resolves the issue, we’ll roll out the solution more broadly. For more information, see EX1464935 in the admin center.”
Therefore, the company should release a fix in due course, although it’s difficult to say exactly how long it will take. Recent outages were resolved within hours, while others took until the following day. At the time of writing, Downdetector shows that 38% of users report issues receiving messages in Outlook, 24% report issues with the app itself, and 21% report problems logging in.
As it turns out, Outlook isn’t the only Microsoft product experiencing issues: users are reporting issues with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Store, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft 365 in general. OpenAI users are also reporting problems with ChatGPT.
