Unlock the secret developer mode on your Amazfit watch.

In the Zepp app , go to Profile > Settings > About Device , then tap the Zepp logo seven times. Voila: you’ve just unlocked developer mode. This is a fun activity if you enjoy exploring the inner workings of your device, and it can sometimes be useful for troubleshooting syncing issues or checking firmware details that the default interface hides.

Developer mode also allows you to install custom watch faces, instead of relying on the existing built-in watch face library and downloading your own watch face to your computer, scanning the generated QR code, and installing it directly on your watch.

Let your flashlight do more than just light your way.

Most users know that their T-Rex 3 Pro flashlight has a built-in flashlight, activated by long-pressing the UP button. The Pro version combines a white LED with a red one. The red light is a real boon: it preserves your night vision, which is essential if you’re studying a map at a campsite or trying not to wake someone while navigating a dark room. The flashlight also functions as an SOS strobe, so in a real emergency, you can activate a flashing distress signal without having to fumble for your phone. If you’ve only used the white beam, it’s worth knowing that both the red mode and the SOS strobe are accessible with a single tap. After turning on the flashlight, here’s how to use the different modes:

  • Tap the flashlight icon on the screen or quickly press the UP or DOWN buttons to switch between normal white light and low-noise red light mode.

  • Press the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously to activate the super-bright beam. This mode lasts up to 30 seconds and requires a short cool-down period before it can be used again.

  • To open Control Center, swipe down on the Watch screen and tap SOS to start a distress call.

  • Go to Settings > Assistant (or Workout) > Warning Light to enable automatic blinking while running or cycling in the dark.

Ask your watch to plan your route home for you.

The T-Rex 3 Pro’s autonomous mapping system goes beyond standard “write-only” route navigation. Beyond simple point-to-point navigation, it supports round-trip routing, meaning you can tell the watch how far you want to go, and it will generate a loop route that will return you to your starting point, without having to specify a destination. Combined with the auto-reroute feature, which automatically recalculates the route if you deviate from the planned path, you get a level of route planning previously only available in much more expensive GPS watches. It’s a great way to explore an unfamiliar trail network without the real risk of getting stuck trying to backtrack.

Here’s how to use the automatic round-trip route planning feature on Amazfit:

  1. Open the map, wait for the location to be determined, press SEL > Navigation > Create a round trip route .

  2. Select your workout type, direction, and target distance. The watch will automatically generate a round-trip route.

  3. Tap Start Workout to get started, or Save Route for later in My Route .

If you deviate from the route by more than 500 meters during your workout, the watch will automatically activate the route recalculation function.

What do you think at the moment?

Put dog walking in a separate category.

Scroll down to the “Running & Walking” section, select “Additional Workouts,” and you’ll find the “Dog Walking” mode. This allows you to keep a real-time history of your dog’s walks separately from your personal workout log. Because this mode is hidden several menu levels away, most owners never stumble upon it and end up logging their dog walks as regular walks, thereby losing this detailed record.

Mute all but the most important apps.

If you own a T-Rex 3 Pro, you’re likely one of those who appreciates the outdoors, away from screens and constant notifications. However, you might need important notifications from your watch if you’re hiking alone.

Go to your watch’s settings and turn on or off individual app alerts so that important alarms and low battery alerts continue to sound even when all other notifications are muted. To manage individual app alerts, go to “Notifications & Reminders,” then “App Notifications,” then “App Alerts.” From there, you can turn on only the apps you really need, such as messages from a specific person, while keeping the rest of your wrist silent while you’re out for a walk. It’s a small investment in customization that pays off every time you’re cycling through forest trails and don’t want your wrist vibrating because of a sales letter.

Extra life hack: quickly and easily drain water from your watch.

Finally, I’d like to share a helpful life hack with you, since I’m assuming you’re not afraid of bad weather: Amazfit has a built-in water-removal feature. Water can accumulate in the microphone and speaker ports of your watch, muffling the sound or causing false alarms. Here’s how: swipe down from the home screen to open the Control Center, tap the “Droplet” icon, and hold the watch with the speaker facing down. The watch will vibrate at specific frequencies designed to physically expel moisture from the ports. Like all the other life hacks above, it’s helpful to know about this feature now so you’re prepared when you really need it.
