The GoPro Mission 1 Pro Is Currently $100 Off.

Amazon is currently selling the GoPro Mission 1 Pro for $599, down from $699, and according to price tracking services, this is the lowest price yet. The main reason to consider this model is the Type 1 sensor (especially if you’re shooting in mixed lighting or want to capture more detail for post-production), while the 8K60 and 4K240 resolutions offer greater flexibility for shooting high-resolution video and stunning slow motion. Open Gate recording at 8K30 is also practical, as it allows you to capture a shot from a higher angle and later decide whether the final video should be vertical for social media or widescreen for YouTube—you don’t have to commit to one format while shooting. The rear 2.6-inch OLED screen is also easier to use outdoors than a smaller LCD screen.

The camera also features 10-bit color, GP-Log2, and HyperSmooth stabilization, making it ideal for both content creators planning to edit their videos and those who want to mount it to a bike or helmet. However, you’ll need your own microSD card, and the 240 Mbps recording mode requires a reasonably fast card. On the plus side, the Mission 1 Pro body is waterproof to 20 meters without the need for an additional housing, and mounting flexibility is available thanks to GoPro-style folding mounts, a standard tripod thread, and a magnetic mount. Battery life has also been significantly improved—according to a PCMag review , the camera recorded 4K60 video continuously for nearly two hours without overheating. This is especially useful for long trips or travels, when constantly changing batteries becomes tedious.

What do you think at the moment?

Overall, the main question is whether you really need such a powerful camera—the Mission 1 Pro, at $599, is still pricey, while the standard Mission 1 is $100 cheaper, yet it’s adequate for most everyday action camera needs. The Pro version also lacks the support for additional lenses found on the Hero13 Black , so those who already own those accessories lose some flexibility. And while the GoPro Quik app and cloud integration make backup and editing easier, the (optional) subscription adds another cost.
