Apple TV Has Added These “classic” Films to Its Catalog for Free.
Over the past seven years, Apple TV has steadily become the premier streaming service. The platform now boasts a wealth of must-watch TV , from acclaimed hits like Ted Lasso , Breakdown , and Downsizing to quality sci-fi series like Foundation and Power —not to mention Apple originals like Killers of the Flower Moon , Fast & Furious 1 , and Coda . While the streaming service isn’t the first platform that comes to mind when it comes to non-Apple content, it does occasionally license shows and movies in addition to its own original programming—including, notably, old episodes of Peanuts —and as of today, that licensed catalog has expanded slightly.
As spotted by 9to5Mac , Apple TV has added 19 movies to its catalog that subscribers can watch for free, with no separate rental fee. The selection includes films from the ’80s, ’90s, 2000s, and 2010s, covering a variety of genres and themes. While not all of these films are award-winning, many are considered classics, from old hits like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Titanic to more recently acclaimed films like Arrival . Each one is free to watch with any Apple TV subscription and can be found in the “Best Movies Now Available on Apple TV” section on the platform.

It’s unclear how long these films will remain on Apple TV, or whether Apple plans to add more titles in the future. As 9to5Mac notes, this isn’t the first time Apple has licensed films this way, though it’s been several years, and Apple has previously quickly removed these offerings from the platform. All of these films are also available for rent or purchase from Apple’s digital store, so if you miss out, you can always rent them to watch them.
