Four New Features Will Arrive With Every New Pixel 11 Device.
Just hours before its massive Made by Google event, Google officially unveiled the Pixel 11 series. The new lineup won’t come as a surprise to those who follow Google tech: it includes the new Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold—for those who don’t mind the $1,899 starting price.
Each of these devices stands out in its own way: the Pixel 11 Pro XL is larger than the Pixel 11 and 11 Pro, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold can fold out to reveal a single, large internal display. Google designed this series so customers can choose the phone that best suits their needs, but there are also features you’ll get no matter which phone you choose. All Pixel 11 phones have improved cameras.
Google’s Pixel line is perhaps best known for its cameras. So it’s only logical that the Pixel 11 series received improved cameras . The Pixel 11 now features a 48MP main camera, which Google claims is 56% more sensitive to light. Furthermore, the 5x telephoto lens now supports Google’s 30x “superzoom.”
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL also feature all-new sensors in their main cameras, with a 48-megapixel telephoto lens. Google claims the new sensor is 30% more light-sensitive than before. The Pro models also support Portrait mode with 5x zoom and Pro Zoom with 120x magnification. And when shooting in low light, Night Sight is now 4.5 times faster than on the Pixel 10 Pro. Finally, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold also features a new 48-megapixel main camera with support for 30x superzoom.
All Pixel 11 phones come with improved charging.
Regardless of which Pixel 11 model you choose, Google claims you’ll get improved charging compared to last year’s Pixel 10. However, the Pixel 11 has the fewest improvements: Google claims “the fastest charging to date” thanks to built-in PixelSnap technology, but that seems to be where the improvements end.
However, all three Pixel 11 “Pro” models now support the Qi 2.2 wireless charging standard , a faster standard. When using a 25W charger, you’ll notice faster wireless charging speeds. If charging speed is important to you, the Pixel 11 Pro XL may be a better choice. Google says you’ll get 15 hours of battery life with a 45W USB-C charger after just 15 minutes of charging.
All Pixel 11 devices come with the Tensor G6 processor.
As with most smartphone updates, this year’s series received Google’s latest chip: the Tensor G6. The company claims the Tensor G6 is Google’s “fastest and most powerful” chip to date, delivering 25% faster web browsing and 15% faster app launches. The company claims the new chip can perform on-device AI tasks 3.5 times faster than the Tensor G5, while also being 3.5 times more efficient than before. This should help power all the AI features Google continues to push.
All Pixel 11 devices are now available with storage starting from 256GB.
Say goodbye to 128GB of storage. Starting with the Pixel 11 series, all Google phones are now offered with storage starting at 256GB. However, this news isn’t as good as it sounds: while the base Pixel 11 model will have twice the storage of the base Pixel 10, Google is still charging the same price for 256GB as last year. This means the company has effectively raised the starting price of every Pixel 11 device.
