In the new Apple TV hit based on Marissa Stapley’s best-selling novel, Anya Taylor-Joy plays the lead role of a con artist. Her name proves a bit ironic when her latest case goes awry, making her the prime target of both the police and a dangerous crime boss who, incidentally, happens to be her mother-in-law. Annette Bening clearly has a blast playing the ruthless Priscilla Masterson, who blames Lucky for the loss of the $10 million she and Priscilla’s son, Cary (Drew Masterson), stole—even though Cary ultimately escaped with it. This London-based series stars an unlikely pair. Octavia Spencer plays Debbie, the American wife of a British politician, and Hannah Waddingham is her good friend Judith, who also happens to be a professional assassin. After a botched assassination attempt, Judith is forced to go on the run to outrun another assassin working against her and avoid conflict with the ruthless agency (literally, “The Agency”) that employs her.
