Your Samsung Galaxy Watch’s Browser Has Received a Useful Update.
Frankly, I’m completely committed to the Apple ecosystem and don’t plan to switch anytime soon—but that doesn’t mean I’m not looking ahead. I have few complaints about my aging Apple Watch, but I admit, Android smartwatches can be pretty cool . While I don’t expect to spend much time browsing the web on my watch, the Galaxy Watch’s native browser is a great feature. (For those unfamiliar, the Apple Watch has a built-in web browser that only appears when watchOS deems a search relevant. There’s no Safari app for the Apple Watch.)
If you have a Galaxy Watch, you probably already know you can install the Samsung Browser on it . However, you might not know that your wearable web browser has received a great update that makes it even more like a desktop web browser. As SamMobile reports , the Samsung Browser for Galaxy Watch now allows you to download images from webpages. This means if you come across a picture online, you can download it directly to your Galaxy Watch, instead of having to switch to your phone, tablet, or computer to save it.
How to download images using the Samsung browser on your Galaxy Watch
First, update Samsung Browser to the latest version, then open it and navigate to any webpage of your choice. When you find an image you want to download, long-press it, and a new “Download Image” option will appear. Tap it, and the image will be saved to your watch. All downloaded images can be found in the “Downloads” folder on the Samsung Browser home page.
SamMobile notes that this option doesn’t seem to work until the website has fully loaded. Therefore, you may have to wait a little longer than expected before you can upload an image. There are also some limitations: you can upload PNG, JPEG, JPG, and GIF files up to 10 MB in size. If you encounter a different file type or the image is too large, you won’t be able to upload it.
This should work on any Galaxy Watch that supports the latest version of Samsung Browser. However, if you’re planning to upgrade, Samsung recently announced the Galaxy Watch 9 at its July Unpacked event . The watch goes on sale on August 7, so you can pre-order it now or wait until launch to see if the price drops on older Galaxy Watch models.
