10 TV Shows Similar to “I’ll Find You” That You Should Watch Next.

I Will Find You is the 13th Netflix series based on a Harlan Coben novel, with at least one more in development (Coben is expected to team up with writer and super-producer David E. Kelley). It seems viewers aren’t satisfied: I Will Find You has been one of the biggest successes on streaming platforms this year , achieving figures that place it among the top performers on any Netflix chart in the past couple of years.

In the series, Sam Worthington plays David Burrows, a man imprisoned for the murder of his son, who five years later learns that the child may still be alive. We love gripping detective stories with unreliable protagonists, stunning plot twists, and deep personal drama, and I Will Find You has all of that in spades—as do these 10 other shows (most of which aren’t even adaptations of Coben’s books).

Destruction (2020)

David E. Kelley produced this twisting psychological drama, based on Jean Hanff Korelitz’s bestselling novel You Should Have Known . Nicole Kidman plays Grace Fraser, a Manhattan psychologist married to oncologist Jonathan (Hugh Grant). She constantly encounters a woman named Elena, whose increasingly erratic behavior worries Grace, especially after the woman’s murder. Things become truly unsettling when Grace tries to contact Jonathan, but he disappears, drawing her into a web of secrets and lies that hits all too close to home. The focus is less on a (possibly) false accusation and more on the question of who can be trusted. Watch Unraveling on HBO Max .

The Beast in Me (2025)

Claire Danes plays the grieving mother of Aggie Wiggs, a writer struggling to write her next book after a tragedy. She decides to focus her frustration on her neighbor, which is obviously a good idea and the right thing to do, especially when that man was previously accused of murdering her first wife. What could go wrong ? The reliably excellent Matthew Rhys plays Niall Jarvis, the neighbor, possibly the murderer, who becomes embroiled in the story when Abby’s story turns out to be much more than just the story of one death.Watch “The Beast in Me” on Netflix.

Big Mouth (2022)

A gripping and twisty crime drama with a slightly more theatrical mystery than I’ll Find You , but with a similar plot. Park Chan-ho (Lee Jong-suk) is a third-rate lawyer with a horrifically low success rate, nicknamed “Chatterbox” by his colleagues, who dismiss him as nothing more than a phony. He gets involved with a loan shark and loses a case involving a scam in which he himself becomes a victim, sending him to rock bottom. But then he gets an unexpected big chance: the mayor wants him to take on a high-profile case. In the process, he’s mistaken by the police for a mysterious con artist known as “Big Mouse” and realizes the only way out is to go through with it if he wants to clear his name. Innocent (2021)

Another film by Harlan Coben, this Spanish-language thriller tells the unexpectedly intertwined stories of two very different people in Barcelona. Mateo Vidal (Mario Casas) accidentally killed a man years ago, a fact that comes back to haunt him when his new wife disappears. Meanwhile, detective Lorena Ortiz (Alexandra Jimenez) is assigned to investigate the death of a nun. The two storylines eventually intertwine thanks to several gripping and unexpected twists.Watch “The Innocent” on Netflix.

The Outsider (2020)

A brutal take on the unjustly accused protagonist, this story presents us with an unsolvable mystery: a child is brutally murdered, and all evidence points unequivocally to Terry Maitland (Jason Bateman), a youth baseball coach. The case seems straightforward—except that he was away at a conference when the murder occurred, even appearing on a news report miles away. As the tragedies mount, the threat seems out of place, which is unsurprising given that this is an adaptation of one of Stephen King’s most disturbing recent works. Cynthia Erivo plays Holly Gibney, one of King’s recurring characters. Watch The Outsider on HBO Max.

Presumed Innocent (2024 – )

This legal thriller from David E. Kelley (based on Scott Turow’s bestselling novel, previously adapted for film with Harrison Ford) focuses more on the courtroom proceedings than I Will Find You , but the plot lines are quite similar: Jake Gyllenhaal plays Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor assigned to investigate the murder of a colleague. His attempts to steer the investigation in the right direction lead to trouble when it is discovered he had an affair with the deceased woman, and she was pregnant. Rusty quickly becomes the prime suspect, and his previous questionable behavior doesn’t help his situation. Watch Presumed Innocent on Apple TV .

Defending Jacob (2020)

Based on the book by William Landay, this film is full of witty and heartbreaking moments: in an upper-class Massachusetts suburb, Andy (Chris Evans) and Laurie (Michelle Dockery) learn that their 14-year-old son’s classmate has been murdered in a local park. What happens next is even more shocking: their son is arrested for murder. This film is less about the wrongfully accused and more about the lengths people will go to protect those they love—even when they (possibly) do very bad things. The acting is compelling, and the central mystery is gripping, leading to several stunning twists in the finale. Watch Defending Jacob on Apple TV .

Night (2016)

Riz Ahmed plays Naz Khan, a Pakistani-American student in New York City. After a night of partying, Naz wakes up to find the woman he spent the night with stabbed to death in her bedroom. After fleeing the scene, he’s arrested for a traffic violation and quickly identified by witnesses. He even has the murder weapon in his coat pocket. Things seem dire, but he’s almost certain he had nothing to do with the murder, even if his memory is full of gaps. He seems to have little defense until utterly exhausted attorney John Stone (John Turturro) takes the case with a “why not?” attitude and finds himself embroiled in it. Surface (2022–2025)

In the story of Sophie Ellis (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a survivor of an apparent suicide attempt, the question of how much we can trust our own instincts is examined more literally than usual. She returns to life with her husband, but is horrified to discover that she had an affair and that her husband may have embezzled money, among other dirty deeds. It all comes down to how much she can trust the men in her life compared to her own fragmented memories. Watch “Surface” on Apple TV .

The Staircase (2022)

Inspired by the documentary of the same name, The Staircase avoids typical true-crime tropes, taking a nearly meta approach to its convoluted plot. Colin Firth plays real-life crime writer Michael Peterson, and Toni Colette plays his wife and eventual victim, Kathleen, who dies after falling down the stairs. Peterson was convicted of murder, a charge later reduced to manslaughter, but the case remains unresolved, and the drama focuses on many supporting players—lawyers, family members, and the French film crew who arrive to document it—offering a glimpse into what life can be like within such a maelstrom of events.
