Three Things I Already Like About the New Ultrahuman Ring Pro

I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of Ultrahuman’s new Ring Pro , and I’m thrilled to finally have it in my hands (well, on one hand). This ring was announced back in February, along with a multi-functional charging case. It’s an improved version of the Ring Air , which I previously reviewed, and retails for $479, including the case. Overall, the experience is quite similar to the Ring Air, but there are a few things worth noting.

The battery life is simply incredible.

I’ve been wearing the ring for almost three days now, and the battery is only down to 78%. At this rate, I estimate the charge will last about 13 days. That’s more than double the five to six days I got with the Ultrahuman Ring Air , and significantly longer than the week I got with the Oura Ring 5 .

And if that weren’t enough, it turns out I accidentally enabled Turbo mode, which collects data more frequently and therefore drains the battery faster. I usually prefer the “Calm” mode, which maintains a moderate level of power consumption. (There’s also a “Critical Battery” mode for when you’re really desperate.)

I haven’t had a chance to test the case’s battery life yet, but Ultrahuman claims it can store multiple full charges for the ring. The company estimates the ring’s battery life to be 15 days, and with the charging case, 45 days.

This smart case makes sounds like singing and vibration.

I was most impressed with the Ultrahuman Ring Pro case. I haven’t yet had to perform diagnostics or reset (which the case allows), but it immediately caught my attention with its sound effects. When setting up the ring, you hear a sound—it reminded me of a singing metal bowl . The case also emits haptic vibrations.

What do you think at the moment?

The entire front edge of the case is an LED indicator that can glow or pulse different colors depending on what it’s supposed to signal. If you lose the case, you can ask the app to play a sound. The only thing I haven’t figured out yet is whether there’s a way to set the morning alarm to play through the case instead of the phone—I remember this possibility being discussed when this ring and case were still in development.

The shape and design are simple and elegant.

While Oura made its newest ring even more compact , Ultrahuman went the opposite direction, turning its ring into a single piece of metal. It’s thicker than the Air, but even more interestingly, the inside of the ring is made of the same smooth metal as the outside. Other smart rings have a transparent, epoxy-like coating on the inside.

Simple yet elegant, I love that the new design features two breakaway points, allowing for easy removal in an emergency. As for the ring’s appearance, you’ll have to read my full review to find out.
