The Top 10 Movies Available Right Now, According to Streaming Services.

The two most popular movies streamed online in June were about the end of the world, but they offered wildly different interpretations of how it would happen. This month’s streaming leaders point to a collective subconscious split in two. For every brutal, cynical, uncompromising survival thriller like Help!, there’s an equally popular, life-affirming antidote like The Sheep Detectives that will restore your faith in humanity (or at least in farm animals). What does this all mean? I have no idea. I just want to turn on the air conditioning and watch movies.

Project “Ave Maria” (2026)

In this gripping sci-fi film, Ryan Gosling plays Ryland Grace, a high school science teacher who, in a desperate attempt to save the world, finds himself thrown into the heavens. Grace is the only person on Earth who might know how to protect the sun from a cosmic contagion that threatens all life, but he’s definitely no astronaut and doesn’t consider himself a hero. Will he prove himself and learn something about his inner strength and resilience while saving us all from death? My guess is yes, probably. The Hail Mary Project is available to stream on FuboTV and MGM+ .

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die (2026)

Legendary director Gore Verbinski ( The Ring, Pirates of the Caribbean ) returns with a satirical, joyfully maximalist sci-fi comedy that explores artificial intelligence, social media addiction, virtual reality, and the modern world itself. Sam Rockwell plays a man from the future who shows up at a Los Angeles diner, demanding patrons help him save the future from an artificial intelligence about to be born. As a time traveler, Rockwell has tried and failed numerous times, but this time things will be different or everyone will die again. Part Terminator , part Black Mirror , Not Die is a film that throws everything at the wall, pushing it so far that you’ll be forced to come to terms with its bizarre logic and style out of sheer exhaustion. Not Die is available to stream on Hulu and Prime Video.

Sheep Detectives (2026)

With just enough darkness to offset all the cute sheep, the family film “The Sheep Detectives” tells the story of an English farmer, played by Hugh Jackman, who reads detective stories to his flock of sheep every night. When he’s found dead, authorities chalk it up to natural causes, but his sheep know the truth and set out to find the culprit using the knowledge they’ve gained from all those detective stories. If you like the Babe movies, you’ll love “The Sheep Detectives,” and if you think you’re too cynical to appreciate such a film, you’re probably wrong; it’s charming and funny. “The Sheep Detectives” is available to stream on Prime Video .

Send Help (2026)

Horror master Sam Raimi is the perfect director for this brutal, deranged, and darkly humorous thriller. In The Help, Rachel McAdams plays Linda, a clumsy office worker in an office full of well-dressed sharks. Her boss is Bradley (Dylan O’Brien), a powerful executive with unlimited funds and a complete lack of compassion. After a plane crash, they find themselves stranded on a desert island. It turns out Bradley’s ability to humiliate people in the jungle is of no help, but Linda is something of a survivalist. She’s also crazy. It’s the perfect premise for a twisted plot that culminates in a bloody conclusion. The Help is available on Hulu and Disney+ .

They Will Kill You (2026)

Director Kirill Sokolov ( Why Don’t You Just Die! ) delivers a fast-paced action-horror-comedy full of violence and gore—my favorite genre right now. In They Will Kill You , the magnificent Zazie Beetz plays Asia, an ex-convict who answers an ad for a live-in housekeeper in a luxury New York City high-rise. She soon discovers that the building’s eccentric tenants—including characters played by Patricia Arquette, Tom Felton, and Heather Graham—are a bloodthirsty Satanic cult out to sacrifice her. But she’s not going down without a fight. If you liked Ready or Not and/or You’re Next , you’ll love They Will Kill You . Watch They Will Kill You on Max.

Hoppers (2026)

Hoppers is directed by Daniel Chong (creator of We the Bears ). Piper Curda stars as Mabel, a passionate environmental science student who transfers her mind into a lifelike robotic beaver to get closer to nature. But she soon finds herself leading an animal rebellion against their own kind. Jon Hamm voices the nemesis, Mayor Jerry, a slimy politician who wants to tear down the wildlife refuge to build a highway. Pixar has carefully crafted this film to captivate you. That’s their style. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)

Steven Spielberg’s 1977 sci-fi masterpiece experienced a surge in popularity on streaming platforms in June, following the theatrical release of his latest alien conspiracy thriller, Disclosure Day . The guy can’t resist making movies about space creatures, but Close Encounters of the Third Kind is the best of them all. Richard Dreyfuss plays Roy Neary, an ordinary electrician whose quiet suburban life is shattered by a UFO encounter. He dedicates his life to figuring out what the hell happened to him, and the answer turns out to be tender and beautiful, in a way we rarely imagine about aliens today. The Maid (2025)

Directed by Paul Feig, The Maid is a psychological thriller equally inspired by action films like Gone Girl and suspense classics like Vertigo . Based on the 2022 novel by Frieda McFadden, The Maid follows a classic plot: Millie (Sydney Sweeney), a young woman with a secret past, takes a job as a maid for wealthy couple Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). Millie soon discovers that the nice couple who hired her are hiding some very dangerous secrets. Watch The Maid on Starz .

Amazingly Bright Creatures (2026)

In this touching drama about a woman and an octopus, Sally Field plays Tova, a widow who spends her days cleaning aquariums and coping with the death of her son. Lewis Pullman plays Cameron, a drifter in need of a mentor and a mother figure. Alfred Molina voices Marcellus, the octopus who brings them together. If you enjoy smart, touching films with amazing performances, this is a great choice. Watch “Spectacular Creatures” on Netflix .

Office Romance (2026)

People love Jennifer Lopez, even when she’s starring in weird sci-fi films like Atlas and even weirder ones like This Is Me… Now: A Love Story . Here, she feels more comfortable starring in a formulaic, straightforward romantic comedy. In Office Romance, J.Lo plays Jackie Cruz, the powerful CEO of an airline that has a strict zero-tolerance policy on office romances. But then Daniel Blanchflower, a charming lawyer played by Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein, comes to work, and the rules become much more relaxed. The film is sexy, funny, and lighthearted—just the thing for a summer movie romance. Watch Office Romance on Netflix .
