New to Prime Day? We’ve prepared a comprehensive guide for you, covering everything you need to know . Discount information is current at the time of publication, but prices and availability are subject to change.
This Prime Day, Whoop is offering great deals on two subscription tiers, and one of them is especially good: a bracelet bundled with a Whoop Peak subscription for $189 . For that price, you get what I consider to be a year’s best subscription. It’s not only cheaper than the regular price of $239 per year, but also cheaper than the cheapest subscription, which is still $199.
Whoop is a screenless wearable that set the standard for such devices; all other smartbands are still trying to catch up. Technically, you only pay for a subscription, and the device is “free.” The company offers three subscription tiers:
-
Whoop One with device version 5.0 – $199. This plan is not eligible for this promotion.
-
A Whoop Peak subscription with the 5.0 device costs $189, compared to the regular price of $239. (It’s currently cheaper than the most basic version, the Whoop One.) I would recommend the Peak subscription to almost everyone.
-
The Whoop Life device with the MG sensor costs $299, while the regular price is $359. Frankly, I don’t think the extra cost is justified. All you get is an ECG function on the strap and a blood pressure function of questionable utility. Choose the Peak.
You can read my review of the Whoop 5.0/MG here . Whoop used to be the only fitness tracker without a screen; now it’s one of many, but I’d say it still has the best app and is worth the money if you want to deeply understand your sleep, exercise, and how they interact. However, several smartbands have hit the market in the past year. I have some thoughts on the smartband market here , but I can only recommend two widely available options: the Whoop for premium use and the Fitbit Air ($99 with an optional $9.99/month subscription) for a more minimalist approach.
If you already have a Whoop device, including the older 4.0 version, there are independent apps designed to fill this gap and allow you to access data from your band without a subscription . These apps are still in development (and sometimes face legal threats), but I think they show promise.
