The Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds were released in February 2025 for $249.99, putting them in the same price range as the AirPods Pro 2. This Prime Day, they’re marked down to $179.95, a 28% discount and their lowest price since launch, according to price tracking sites .
If you’re already an Apple user, they connect just like AirPods, and you get features like active noise cancellation, Transparency mode, and automatic device switching. The main difference is the form factor. These earbuds feature ear hooks rather than a stem, making them more comfortable for those who experience regular earbuds falling out during workouts (as noted in our review) . Made of nickel-titanium alloy, these ear hooks are flexible and conform to the shape of your ear without squeezing, ensuring a secure fit during running, strength training, and any other activity that typically requires reaching up to adjust a standard earbud.
You get four sizes of ear tips in the box, and a proper fit improves both noise cancellation and overall sound quality (if you need help adjusting all the headphone features, check out our detailed guide ). The physical controls are another plus during workouts: each earbud has a multi-function button and a dedicated volume control, which are easier to use with sweaty fingers than tiny touchpads. They’re also IPX4-rated, so they can withstand sweat and light rain without issue.
There’s no equalizer, so you’ll have to use the default bass-focused setting, which is best suited for hip-hop or electronic music. Additionally, while the built-in heart rate sensors can transmit data to supported fitness apps, a loose fit can affect readings, and they’re not a replacement for a reliable watch or chest strap, notes our Senior Health Editor, Beth Skwarecki . On the plus side, they offer up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge with noise cancellation off, or up to eight hours with active noise cancellation or Transparency mode enabled, and the case extends the total battery life to approximately 45 hours.
