Mark Zuckerberg Unveiled New Smart Glasses Ahead of Meta Connect.

In an Instagram post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed the dates for the next Meta Connect event: September 23rd and 24th at the company’s Menlo Park campus. Naturally, it will also be streamed online. Zuckerberg also shared a (likely clue-filled) playlist titled “Connect 2026,” a list of what to expect, and a photo that seems to hint at the appearance of smart glasses at the event:
The memo Zuckerberg shared promised “demonstrations, special guests, AI updates, and improved Wi-Fi,” along with a fifth point that was vague. Mysterious! The company’s blog post promised that Meta would “share the latest news in VR, wearables, the metaverse, and AI” at the event, but I doubt these things are listed in order of importance.
What will Meta present at Meta Connect 2026?
Aside from some hastily sketched sunglasses and a few cryptic clues, there’s very little information about what Meta plans to showcase at the event. Rumor has it that Meta is working on a watch to compete with the Apple Watch , and the photo shows something roughly the size of a watch, so that’s entirely possible. It would be logical if Meta finally unveiled a full-fledged smartwatch that could also control Meta glasses, but it’s unclear whether the company is ready for that. Devoted VR fans are hoping for the announcement of the new Quest headset , which the company has confirmed, but if I had to guess, I’d say Meta will focus on improving its AI, because that’s the reality of the day.
The songs on Mark Zuckerberg’s “Vibes” playlist mostly reflect the CEO’s mediocre musical taste. Like, Daft Punk’s “Better Stronger Faster” in 2026? A new Jack Harlow song? Blink-182? Horrible. These aren’t so much “cutting-edge ideas” as they are “safe choices.”
