Get $35 Off Your Fitbit Air When You Pre-Order It on Google Play.

The new Google Fitbit Air watch is finally available. It’s priced at $99.99, but if you pre-order before May 25th, Google will offer you $35 in Google Store credit after your order ships. The watch also comes with a three-month Google Health Premium subscription, which unlocks a wide range of Gemini-powered AI workout features. Compared to the Whoop-style fitness trackers on which this watch is based, this is a particularly compelling offer, as Whoop premium plans start at $199 per year, depending on your region.

The Google Fitbit Air is essentially an alternative to the Whoop, thanks to its minimalist, screenless design, designed to be discreetly worn and quietly track metrics like health, activity, sleep, and recovery. This makes it indispensable for those who dislike the beeping sounds of traditional smartwatches. The lack of a screen is also a plus if you dislike bulky wearables and want something you can wear while working out, at work, or sleeping without distraction. Metrics like sleep score, sleep stages, cardio load, and fitness score help you focus on long-term recovery.

However, this won’t automatically reduce screen time. While the lack of a display is the primary goal, it means you’ll need your phone to check your stats and progress. It lacks true smartwatch features, such as access to calls, messages, apps, or maps on the watch face. Furthermore, many of the best features rely on a paid Google Health Premium subscription. Still, three free months is a nice bonus, and with additional plans starting at $99 per year, it’s half the price of Whoop’s mandatory annual subscription. (It’s also worth noting that Google credit is applied after your order ships, so you’ll still have to pay $99.99 upfront.)

What do you think at the moment?

Still, it’s a great choice for those who want screen-less activity tracking like Whoop, but at a more affordable price (both initially and long-term with a subscription), as well as for those who want to track their daily activity and get analytics without wearing a full-fledged smartwatch. It’s worth considering if you need a lighter, non-intrusive device for nighttime tracking or are willing to use the $35 Google Store credit for a second band or other Google accessory. However, if you need features like a built-in screen, music control, and wrist-based notifications, you’re better off choosing a more traditional smartwatch.
