This Year, Prime Day Will Take Place Earlier Than Usual.

Amazon Prime Day 2026 is undoubtedly the biggest online sale of the year, and it’s starting a little earlier than you might expect. Yesterday, in a press release quickly issued after Amazon’s own Q1 earnings report revealed the sale’s timing , the company confirmed that this year’s event will take place in June. This marks the first time Amazon has moved its biggest sale of the year forward since the pandemic peaked in 2021.

Amazon typically doesn’t announce its sales months in advance, typically waiting a month at most to inform shoppers of the sale date. But with such an early announcement, it’s likely other major retailers like Walmart, Target, and Best Buy will also adjust their plans and follow suit, giving them ample time to prepare their own sales.

Amazon hasn’t yet announced the exact dates for the sale, but based on the 2021 sale, it will likely take place during the week of June 22. In 2025, Prime Day doubled in length for the first time, from two to four days, and it will likely also last four days this year.
