Steam Has Added Support for Apple Vision Pro Gaming.

The Apple Vision Pro is taking another step toward becoming the amazing VR gaming device we all know it could be. Valve recently announced the addition of Steam Link, an app for the Vision Pro that will allow users to wirelessly stream Steam games from their PC or Mac to the headset. Steam Link will stream video in up to 4K resolution and includes a panoramic mode with an adjustable screen curve.

There’s one major caveat, though: Steam Link won’t stream VR games, so you won’t be able to play Half-Life: Alyx or any other VR or AR games from Steam on your Vision Pro. At least for now.

How to install Steam Link on Apple Vision Pro

Steam Link for iOS is currently in beta, and there’s no word on when the full version will be released, but getting into the beta is very easy:

The state of games on the Apple Vision Pro

At launch, the Apple Vision Pro offered gamers few options , but the situation has steadily changed over the past month. Apple first announced support for NVIDIA CloudXR and now Steam, giving users two legal ways to play games on the Vision Pro. However, the Holy Grail of gaming—native PC VR titles like Skyrim VR and Boneworks— remains inaccessible without workarounds .

What do you think at the moment?

While Apple hasn’t announced anything yet, the inclusion of low-latency tools like Cloud XR and the opening of Steam to the Vision Pro may lead to the next logical step: support for OpenVR and/or SteamVR. The M5 chip in the Vision Pro certainly has enough power to handle the frame rates of AAA VR games, and I’m sure Apple Pro users would at least like to be able to play high-end games on their computers.
