This Affordable Fitness Watch From Amazon Is Now Just $80.

This year’s Amazon Big Spring Sale doesn’t offer many significant discounts on premium watches, but we’ve seen some great deals on budget models. The Amazfit Active 2 Sport is worth checking out, currently on sale for $79.99. It’s a fitness watch with a solid feature set, and it’s half the price of entry-level models from other brands.
The Amazfit watch continues to impress me.
I admit, when I first heard about Amazfit, I assumed it was some kind of fitness brand from Amazon. But there’s no connection—the Amazfit brand is owned by Zepp. And Zepp has been quietly producing high-quality fitness devices for years, including some surprising ones. They have a better alternative to the Whoop (the Amazfit Helio Strap, also released under the Core brand), they’re working on a food tracking camera , and they’ve made several impressive forays into the world of high-end adventure watches.
I liked the Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro watch when I tested it : good hardware, ambitious software features, but ultimately a somewhat clunky implementation. My colleague Meredith Dietz had a similar experience with the T-Rex Ultra 2. Not all Zepp products live up to expectations, but they’re never bad , and overall, I’m quite impressed with the company.
The Active line offers basic features at a good price.
Even at full price, the Active 2 Sport is only $99.99. I haven’t tested it myself, but I have tried the Active Max ($169.99), the newer version with a larger screen. So far, it seems pretty good, though my final verdict will have to wait. The Active isn’t as feature-heavy as the T-Rex models Meredith and I tested, so it’s much better suited to your needs.
The Active 2 fitness tracker features GPS and heart rate tracking, sleep tracking, over 160 workout modes, and the ability to receive calls and messages from a Bluetooth-connected phone. (As with most fitness watches, Android users get more options for replying to messages, but iPhone users can still receive notifications.) Amazfit claims a battery life of 5 days with “heavy use” and 10 days with “typical use.”
Impressively, the Active 2 can store music and maps, unlike other brands that only install offline maps on their more expensive watches. However, Active 2 users on forums like this one note the limited storage capacity. One user says a single card can hold 45 minutes of music; another claims it can hold a map and two hours of audiobooks. This is enough for a single run, but maps and music will need to be changed quite frequently.
