These Samsung Galaxy Devices Finally Have Built-in Webcam Support.

If you work from a laptop, the built-in webcam is perfectly adequate for video calls. But for those with external monitors or laptops with low-quality cameras, it’s helpful (or even necessary) to invest in a dedicated, high-quality webcam. Before spending hundreds of dollars on such a camera on Amazon, just use your smartphone. Your iPhone or Android likely has built-in webcam support, making it easy to use your phone’s camera for work or personal calls. I guarantee your phone’s camera is better than your laptop’s—even if it’s not as user-friendly.

Today, I was surprised to learn that Samsung Galaxy phones don’t support this feature. Previously, it was possible to turn Galaxy devices into webcams using third-party apps, but this feature was never built into the operating system itself. This isn’t a huge problem, but it does create an additional hurdle that could have been avoided and likely reduces the likelihood that Galaxy users will even know about the webcam feature on their smartphones.

Fortunately, that’s no longer the case. As Android Authority reports , Samsung is rolling out webcam support to Galaxy S26 devices. This includes the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. Samsung isn’t making any changes to this feature: it works exactly the same as on the Pixel, so if you’ve used Android’s built-in webcam, you’ll know how it works.

This isn’t the only Galaxy S26-exclusive feature to arrive this week. Samsung also added AirDrop support to the S26 lineup, joining the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series. These Android phones can now wirelessly send files to iPhones via Quick Share, something that would have been impossible just six months ago.

What do you think at the moment?

How to use the Galaxy S26 as a webcam

This is a fairly simple feature if you have compatible hardware. First, open the USB settings on your S26, then under “Use USB for,” select “Webcam.” Next, connect your S26 to your computer. You should see a notification that your phone is connected via USB. Tap it, then select “Webcam” when the option appears. Your phone should now be in webcam mode: tap the webcam notification that appears to reveal the viewfinder and adjust the viewing angle accordingly.

Your S26 should now appear as a camera in any video calling app you use. Simply select it instead of your device’s webcam (or select it as your camera if you don’t have one), and you’ll notice improved image quality.
