My Favorite Inexpensive Lights for Every Part of the Home

I’m not a fan of overhead light. I really hate the excessive brightness that a big light fixture gives, but I also know that I need light around my home to keep me awake, motivated, and happy. As a result, I became an enthusiast of small light bulbs. I have surprisingly strong opinions about the best lamps and small lights, having tried so many of them, so let me share some of my wisdom with you.
The best multifunctional lamps
Two recent lamp purchases have given me lighting sources I couldn’t imagine living without moving forward, and that’s because they do so much more than just light up a room. I got my first one this week thanks to October’s Prime Day . I promptly purchased this shelf and lamp kit that arrived yesterday and took me about half an hour to assemble using the included screws and accessories. The price was reduced to $33.67 from $49.99 for the shopping holiday, and while the Prime Big Deal days are over, it’s still marked down.
Once I assembled it and placed it in the corner of my room, I was immediately impressed by its size and capacity, as well as its durability. It was easy to assemble and the parts fit together perfectly so it is as strong as can be. It emits a surprisingly wide light and looks sharp as hell. I immediately got to work organizing some electronics and odds and ends on the shelves and I think it has already made a huge difference to my living room.
I also love this table lamp that I bought last year and is currently on sale for $28.98. I keep it next to my bed, where I can switch between warm and cool lights, dim the brightness, and use the USB port to turn on a fan, which I use to cancel out white noise without overloading the limited outlet space. It even has a built-in wireless charger so you can place your phone right on the stand. This was a really good purchase and I can’t imagine going back to a simple single function lamp next to my bed.
Other small lights I like
I live in a small apartment with limited natural light and a surprising number of nooks and crannies, so I’ve found some inventive ways to get light where I need it most. One of the upgrades I made this summer was small motion activated magnetic strips that I installed in my closet. Wardrobe organization is important to me because I want to get the most out of all the clothes and accessories I spend money on, but it’s hard to keep a closet in good condition when you can’t see what’s going on in there. These rechargeable lights are super easy to attach wherever you need a little brightness, and you can set them to turn on when motion is detected so they don’t turn off when the cabinet is closed. You can get a six-pack for $30.99 .
When I got them, I also took some cute little sticky button lights and attached them to the stairs leading up to my attic. I won’t lie: they don’t emit any significant glow. However, they make the space a little nicer and help me find my way up and down the stairs when it’s dark. Plus, they come with a little remote control that allows me to change their colors, so I usually set them to pink or purple to match my vibe, making them quite organic with my decor. You can get six for $21.98 .
