Overall, Roomba is doing well, but the company struggled to keep up with competition for a while, long before its deal with Amazon fell through and layoffs began, leaving many people wondering what Roomba’s future will look like. Meanwhile, the competition picks up where Roomba left off.
Roborock, one of the most promising robot vacuum cleaner brands, makes some of the best high-quality robot vacuum cleaners you can buy right now. The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is one such example, and according to price checker tools , it’s currently selling for its lowest price ever on Amazon. It’s on sale for $999.99 (originally $1,599.99) after a $600 rebate. Yes, it’s still expensive, but it truly is a premium robot vacuum cleaner.
The suction power of this vacuum cleaner is 6000 Pa. For reference, according to T3’s review , a comparable Roomba vacuum, the Roomba Combo j9+ (since Roomba doesn’t like to publish suction power figures) is around 2,200Pa. Like most premium vacuum cleaners, the S8 Pro Ultra is self-cleaning, self-drying, self-emptying, self-filling and self-cleaning. It has a 200ml water tank for cleaning floors and a run time of 180 minutes.
Although this is a premium robot vacuum, it is not perfect. A PCMag reviewer said it slightly scratched the floor during testing . There’s no camera to monitor the vacuum while you’re away from home, which other competitors at this price point have. Also, the mop cloth is not removable, so if you have soft carpet, it might get stuck and there’s nothing you can do about it.
