Before the third-generation Bose QuietComfort Ultra launched in 2023, the second-generation Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II were considered the best active noise-canceling (ANC) headphones, and they’re now on sale for $199 (originally $279). They’re $100 cheaper than the Ultra, but the ANC technology is the same.
It’s been almost two years since the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II were released, and they continue to be some of the best active noise-canceling headphones you can get. Yes, the new Bose QuietComfort Ultra is better overall, but it’s also more expensive. If noise cancellation is your primary concern and you want to save money, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II may be your best choice.
PCMag gave these headphones an “outstanding” rating due to their high dynamic range with deep lows and bright highs, fantastic low- and high-frequency noise cancellation, an Active Aware mode that lets you hear your surroundings, and an IPX4 waterproof rating. Keep in mind that there is no way to turn off ANC on these headphones, but you can always turn on Aware mode if you want to hear your surroundings.
With these headphones, you will get six to seven hours of battery life. The charging case can provide about 18 hours of battery life. The case doesn’t support wireless charging and takes three hours to fully charge, while a 20-minute charge gives you up to two hours of listening time.
