The GoPro HERO12 Black is GoPro’s latest flagship action camera and is currently on sale for $349 (originally $399.99). The GoPro HERO12 Black Creator Edition is also on sale for $499 (originally $599.99) after a $100 rebate. The Creator Edition comes bundled with some useful accessories that, if purchased separately, add up to a significant $150 price difference over a standalone camera. So if you know you’ll want to purchase additional accessories, a kit is the way to go.
The GoPro HERO12 Black was released in September 2023 and received an “outstanding” rating from PCMag for pro-grade features in a user-friendly camera, and was also named an Editors’ Choice for best action camera and best GoPro on the market. It has an HDR video profile with 5.3K resolution and an 8:7 aspect ratio sensor, making it ideal for widescreen and vertical cropping of social media videos. One of the main features missing from the previous GoPro HERO11 Black is GPS functionality; since not many people used this feature, eliminating it helped extend battery life. The GoPro HERO12 Black also supports wireless audio and a standard tripod mount, which you can use if you purchase the Creator Edition kit.
