Use “DiffusionBee” to Create AI Images Right on Your Mac

Generating images using AI is fun and sometimes even useful, but the generation of images usually happens on a server run by someone else. If you’d rather have a native Mac app for the job that runs entirely offline, making it completely private, DiffusionBee is the way to go.

This Mac-only app can download AI models to create images, and then run those models fully on your computer. Generation takes only a few seconds on Apple Silicon devices; Older Intel-based Macs are also supported, but image creation takes longer—about five minutes in my tests.

The app offers a number of different AI tools that you can use, from creating an image from text to modifying existing images. Before you can do anything, you will need to download the models, and these models will take up several GB on your computer.

The text to image generator is perhaps the simplest: just enter what you want and you will get it. You can also provide an image and ask for it to be remade using a text prompt. The results are obviously always accurate, exactly as you’d expect from an AI tool (that’s my sarcastic way of saying that you might have to try a few different hints before you get the results you want).

Other features include the ability to remove objects from photos, the ability to create optical illusions, and the ability to scale low-resolution images. It’s essentially a playground for creating images using artificial intelligence, and it’s completely free, so give it a try if you have a Mac.
