How to View and Share Your Archived Instagram Stories

When you post a story on Instagram, it’s only visible to others for 24 hours, after which it disappears from your main feed, but it doesn’t get lost or disappear forever. Instagram Stories are actually saved in a private part of your profile, and you can go back and view them or share them at any time.

Access your Instagram Stories archive

Go to your profile page, tap the three vertical lines in the top right corner of the screen and select Archive. From here, you can view archived Stories, as well as archived Instagram posts and Lives (tap Archive at the top of the screen to switch between them). Click on a story to watch it.

Share an archived story

Click Share in the bottom toolbar and select Share or Close Friends . You can also add it to your “Highlights” (which stay on your Instagram profile page) by tapping “Highlight” and selecting an existing highlight or creating a new one.

Finally, you can share a story as a static post on your profile by clicking More > Share as Post . You can also save your story as a photo or delete it permanently.

Instagram automatically archives all your stories (privately) unless you turn off this feature. To do this, tap the three dots in the top right corner of the Archive screen and tap Settings from the pop-up menu that appears at the bottom. Turn the “Save to Archive” button to the off position.
