Your PS5 Will Soon Be Able to Record Game Clips to Help Other Players

If you’re playing a game on your PS5 and can’t beat a particularly difficult boss or solve a certain puzzle, you’ll soon be able to get help from an anonymous stranger. Sony has announced that later this year, your PS5 will be able to automatically capture game clips from your gaming sessions and upload them as tips for other players, and clips captured by other players will also be available for your perusal. This add-on is called Community Game Help, and you’ll have to take it as it offers a fun way to get help with the game without having to watch an online walkthrough.

In the coming months, you’ll be able to sign up for game help from the community. This means that videos of your gameplay will be useful to others. Once this feature is rolled out to your PS5, you can go to PS5 Settings > Captures & Broadcasts > Captures > Automatic Captures > Community Game Help > Participate . This will allow you to participate in the program.

According to Sony, this settings page will also allow you to choose how many videos you want the console to be able to capture each month. When you perform certain actions in supported games, your PS5 automatically records those videos and uploads them to Sony’s servers. Once your video is uploaded, a moderator will review your content and decide whether it can be published in the Community Game Help section. If your video is published, you will receive a notification on your PS5 and it will appear in the “Your Posted Videos” section of the Community Game Help Settings page.

Sony says your PS5 will automatically delete these clips once they’re downloaded, meaning you won’t have to worry about running out of storage space. The company has also addressed other privacy concerns by confirming that only raw gameplay footage will be uploaded. Sony will not have access to your webcam images, chat audio, or audio from your microphone. According to Sony, the feature will be available “in select games later this year, and [its] goal is to expand it to as many games as possible in the future.”
