OnePlus Now Supports Google Photos Backup

I was very impressed with the OnePlus 12 when I tested it earlier this year, and it looks like OnePlus is continuing to build on the solid foundation it’s built. The latest version of OxygenOS 14, OnePlus Android 14 update, adds the ability to integrate the OnePlus Photos app with Google Photos.

This makes it easier to back up photos to the cloud, although OnePlus hasn’t mentioned whether it will offer support for the ProXDR quality option available on higher-end OnePlus devices. OnePlus owners can already download the Google Photos app and perform backups, but it won’t require downloading any additional apps. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any kind of two-way album syncing, which would be nice.

To enable the new setting on OnePlus devices, you first need to update to OxygenOS 14. This operating system is available on OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11 devices, as well as OnePlus 10T and OnePlus 9. OxygenOS 14 is also available on some mid-range devices such as OnePlus Nord 2T and Nord 3.

After updating to the latest version, you will be able to find this setting in the OnePlus Photos app. Open the built-in Photos app and go to Settings > Google Photos Backup, then tap to activate it. 9to5Google reported some issues with how the backup worked, most notably that they had to force close the app and then restart it to get everything to work properly after enabling the setting.
