Use the Days Since App to Break Bad Habits

There are habit trackers that can help you form good habits. Let’s say you want to journal or meditate every day; you manually check information every day and have developed a new habit over time. But a full life also requires giving up bad habits. Here too the app can help you stay on track by helping you quit smoking, overeating, sugar, social media or any addiction. No matter what you want to quit, it can all be tracked and left behind with the Days Since app on iPhone.

Why you should track your bad habits

Responsibility and commitment are crucial when you are trying to finally break a bad habit. And if it’s something addictive, like nicotine or alcohol, you’ll need all the help you can get.

This is where a simple counter can motivate: It’s been 15 days since you drank alcohol, wouldn’t it be great if you kept drinking? This kind of personality trait will help you when you are at a party and trying to stay sober. Or perhaps everyone orders dessert at the end of dinner, but you don’t mind abstaining.

My personal mainstay is sugar, and using Days Once has helped me give up desserts and ice cream for over six months now.

Using the app is simple: you add a new habit, give it a name, a color, add a start date, and you’re done. Now you can literally do nothing and move on with your life.

But that won’t help. Going back to the Days Since app, where it shows all the counters, is a good start. But the best thing you can do is add a Days Since widget to your home screen. This simple step will serve as a reminder and help you stick to your goal.

For some people, this may not be enough – you may need notifications and daily reminders about the quest you are participating in. You can get these features by paying for a Count Up Club membership in the Days With app. An annual membership costs $17.99.

You can always start again

There will be times when you break a streak; you eat a bag of Doritos or drink. After all, you are only human. Here you can reset the counter and start again. What I like is that the app will allow you to take notes when you reset the counter, so you can view a history of all your resets and streaks and gain valuable insight into your behavior.
