Your Old Samsung Device Could Get Artificial Intelligence Features Very Soon
Samsung has officially confirmed that by the end of the month, a slew of 2023 Galaxy devices will feature Galaxy AI, the company’s new suite of artificial intelligence tools.
Earlier last month, Samsung announced possible plans to release One UI 6.1, which includes all new artificial intelligence features, for the Galaxy S23 and other Galaxy devices. However, the company posted a message on its Korean website confirming that the release should be ready by the end of March.
The news that Samsung is bringing Galaxy AI to some of its older Galaxy devices is exciting, especially for those who haven’t upgraded to the new Galaxy S24 Ultra or any other S24 model. Apart from Galaxy AI, One UI 6.1 will also bring other updates to last year’s Galaxy devices, although the AI features will definitely be the highlight for many users.
Here’s a look at all the phones Samsung previously confirmed will receive One UI 6.1:

Samsung hasn’t mentioned any plans to remove any AI features from any of these older devices, which sets it apart from some of its competitors. Google has played hardball with its AI features in the Pixel 8 lineup, even saying that the regular Pixel 8 won’t get the Gemini Nano and most future AI features due to “hardware limitations.”
It’s unclear what these limitations are, since the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are powered by the same chipset. On the other hand, Samsung doesn’t seem to have a problem making new AI features work on older technology, as all the phones and tablets in the list above run different hardware than the Galaxy S24, where Galaxy AI debuted.
Features that come with Galaxy AI include things like translation tools, new photo editing tools, and a Google Circle feature for search . It’s disappointing that we don’t have a firm release date yet, but at least owners of older Galaxy devices can expect these AI features to arrive on their devices sooner rather than later.
