Nearly 300 Independent Apps for IPhone, IPad and Mac Now Available
Whether you use an iPhone or a Mac (or both), there’s never a shortage of high-quality apps created by independent developers. These indie apps often serve a niche that may serve you very well, but isn’t worth the effort for larger companies to explore. Every few months, these developers band together and put their apps up for sale. We previously covered Black Friday sales of indie apps , and now the sale is back with discounts on nearly 300 apps .
When you’re looking at apps made by smaller developers, it’s helpful to look at how the developer is using your data. For example, I looked at the privacy labels on the App Store pages of all of these apps and found that they collect very basic diagnostic and usage data, and in some cases personal data such as your email address, in order to maintain your account with the service . . (The amount of data collected by these apps is much less than what apps like Instagram collect, for example.)
Not every indie app is worth downloading, but the ones I’ve chosen respect your privacy, are fun enough to try at least once, and are a great price.
Keep track of TV shows and movies
Film Noir allows you to follow your favorite TV shows and movies. You can log content you’ve already watched, and the app has great sorting capabilities to help you find something to watch next. It organizes shows into neat sections, which helps you keep track of upcoming episodes, completed shows, or trending movies. You can use this to get alerts when new episodes of your favorite show are released, and use the JustWatch integration to find out where to watch the content you like. Remove duplicate photos
If it’s time to declutter your library, you may want to consider using Photoscope. This app checks your library for duplicate photos, including multiple shots of the same scene, and lets you quickly delete the ones you don’t need. The application groups similar photos for you, and also selects among these photos what seems to be the best. It usually costs $0.99.

Quickly copy text from images
TextSniper makes it easy to copy text from images on your Mac . Although newer versions of macOS have this feature built-in, TextSniper gets the job done much faster. The default OCR tool in macOS requires you to take a screenshot, open a preview of it, click a button, highlight and then copy the text. With TextSniper, this is reduced to two steps – press a hotkey and select the text. After this, it is automatically copied to the clipboard. For some, that alone may justify the typical $8 asking price.

The CardPointers app is designed to keep you up to date on all types of offers on your credit card. Its regular price is quite high at $60 per year or $200 lifetime, but it’s currently 50% off.
