You Can Use Your Amazon Echo Device As a Bluetooth Speaker

If you have an Amazon Echo device in your home, you probably use its best feature: Alexa. However, you can also use Alexa as a speaker—it’s easy enough to connect your Amazon Echo device to your smartphone or other devices.

How to use Alexa as a speaker

To get started, you should first turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone, tablet, or other device. This process varies depending on the device, but you’ll usually find it in the settings. Once Bluetooth is turned on, make sure your Echo device is turned on and use the voice command “Alexa, pair.”

The Echo device will appear in your smartphone’s (or other device’s) Bluetooth settings page. Select your Echo device; When the device is paired, Alexa will notify you that it is successfully connected. You can now play music or any other type of audio from your source device and use Alexa as a speaker. Many Echo devices are also surprisingly good Bluetooth speakers.

If you want to stop using your Echo device as a Bluetooth speaker, you can use the voice command “Alexa, disconnect.” If that doesn’t work, go to the Bluetooth settings on your smartphone, tablet, or other device, select the Echo device you want to disable, and click “Disconnect” or “Forget this device.” You can also go to the Alexa app on your phone and go to Devices > Your Echo > Settings > Bluetooth Devices ; select the source device and click Forget device .
