How to Delete All Photos of Your Ex From Your IPhone
Breaking up is hard , and it doesn’t help when your iPhone keeps showing you pictures of your ex. If you’re done communicating with this person and want them completely removed from your iPhone, you can quickly delete just their photos. We’ve also found ways to prevent their photos from reappearing in various iPhone widgets. These methods can help you prevent your iPhone from reopening old wounds.
Delete all photos of your ex
Your iPhone allows you to delete all photos of your ex-partner, as noted in a recent Reddit thread . If you want to delete all of their photos, open the Photos app on your iPhone and go to the Albums tab. Tap any thumbnail in the People & Pets section and select your ex’s face. Now you can click the “View” button in the top right corner and remove all the faces that are not your ex. Once you’ve done this, go to the previous page, click “Select” and select all the photos on that page. Click the trash can icon in the bottom right corner and delete all those photos.
To get rid of these photos permanently, you can go to the Albums tab in the Photos app, open the Recently Deleted album, and delete all the photos from here. If you delete photos from the Recently Deleted list, you won’t be able to get them back.
Download photos for backup
You can keep copies of all your ex’s photos if you want to keep a backup. To do this, open iCloud.com on your Mac or PC and sign in using your Apple ID and password. Select “Photos” on this page, go to the “Recently Deleted” album and download all those photos. This allows you to store a backup copy, which you can save to an external hard drive or cloud storage.
Please note that this method will not work if you have disabled iCloud backup for your iPhone photos.
Prevent them from appearing in slideshows
If you’re not ready to delete your ex’s photos, you can take a less nuclear approach and simply prevent your iPhone from showing them in your Memories slideshow. This feature is useful when you want to remind you of good memories, but it can work if it brings up unpleasant memories. To hide your ex from the Memories feature , open the Photos app on your iPhone and go to the For You tab. Tap and hold any photo of your ex (or tap the three dots icon in the top-right corner of the thumbnail) and choose Show less of the person . Select your ex, click Never mention this person, and click Continue . You can also select any memories of your ex from the For You tab and select Remove from Favorite Photos to remove specific memories.
Hide your photos without deleting them
You also have the option to hide someone from your photo library by moving their photos to a hidden album on your iPhone . To do this, open the Photos app and go to Albums > People & Pets . Select your ex-partner, click the “Select” button in the top right corner and select all of his photos. Then tap the three dots icon in the bottom right corner and select Hide . All their photos will be moved to the Hidden album in the Photos app. You can access it at any time by going to the Albums tab and selecting Hidden .
