How Long Does the AirTag Battery Last (and How to Replace It)
Apple AirTags are a useful device if you’re prone to losing things; The tool allows you to track important things such as luggage, keys, backpack or even pets. Of course, the quality of any tracker depends on its battery: once it runs out, it becomes useless.
Can you check the battery level of AirTag?
Although the AirTags battery life is quite long, there is no clear way to check its charge; you can’t check AirTags’ battery life percentage like you can on a smartphone or tablet. Instead, the AirTag’s battery life remains a mystery.
How long do AirTags last?
According to Apple, AirTags won’t run out of charge within a year. When your battery is low, you’ll receive a notification from the Find My app on your iPhone. You can also view this information in the Find My app by tapping AirTag in the Items tab. The message simply reads: “Low Battery” – it does not contain any additional information. If the AirTag is not low on battery, you won’t see any battery information at all.
How to replace the AirTag battery
Apple uses a standard 3V CR2032 lithium coin cell battery , which is available at hardware stores and many online retailers, so you won’t have to spend a lot of time or money finding a replacement. With the battery in your hands, press down on the stainless steel side of the AirTag and turn it counterclockwise. This will open the lid. You can remove it, take out the old battery and replace it with a new one. The AirTag will beep to indicate that a new battery is connected. You can then put the lid back in place and turn it clockwise to close it.
