A few years ago, Bethesda and Arkane Studios came up with the brilliant idea of combining a first-person shooter with Groundhog Day- style time loops. The result is Deathloop , one of the best games of 2021. And now Amazon Prime members can get the PC version completely free (originally $59.99) if they claim it before January 10, 2024.
Deathloop literally defies time
Few games receive 10 points from IGN and are considered “masterpieces” even a year after their release date. However, Deathloop somehow manages to transcend time and still be an amazing game.
The mission is simple: you have 24 hours to destroy eight targets. The point is, if you fail, the day will reset to zero and you are doomed to repeat the 24 hours again. To make the game more interesting, there is a rival assassin in the time loop with you who is doing everything possible to stop you from breaking the time loop. You will fail many times and you will have to think of new ways to achieve your missions when you start the day again.
Unlike many time loop games, Deathloop is not tied to a ticking clock that tells you how long you need to complete the game. Instead, the day is divided into four periods of time – morning, noon, day and night. You can devote as much time to each person as you want. In fact, much of the game is really up to you, allowing you to get creative in achieving your goal.
