How to Try Copilot, Microsoft’s New AI Assistant, on Windows 10
Microsoft is now letting Windows 10 users try out Copilot, the company’s newest AI assistant. This service was previously planned to be released only as part of Windows 11, but it is now part of the latest big update to Windows 10. If you want to try out the Copilot feature for yourself but don’t want to upgrade to Windows 11 just yet, you can use these instructions to download and try the latest version of Windows 10 today.
How to try Windows 10 Copilot
To start using Copilot on Windows 10, you’ll need to join the Windows Insiders program, which allows you to see new features before they’re delivered to mainstream channels. Currently, Copilot is only available as part of the Windows 10 Release Preview Channel, although it will likely only be a few days or weeks before it is available to the general public for Windows 10 users.
However, if you don’t feel like waiting, you can open the Start menu, search for “Insider” in the panel, and then click “Advanced Windows update options.” Click on the “Get Insider Builds” option, which will allow you to test Copilot early on Windows 10. You will need to apply the updates by restarting your computer.
When you select a preview channel, you will have several options to choose from. To access Copilot on Windows 10 right now, simply select the preview channel, which will essentially give you a beta version of the update. This means that it will have fewer bugs than the developer channel, allowing you to continue using your machine without too many problems.
How is Copilot different from Windows 10?
Ultimately, Copilot in Windows 10 will be essentially the same as the system in Windows 11, but there are some differences to be aware of. You’ll still be able to do the core work that Copilot offers in Windows 11 when using it on Windows 10, although there will be some slight differences in features as some of them simply don’t exist in Windows 10—and never will. as this will not change Microsoft’s planned retirement date for the operating system.
