You Can Prevent Your Themes From Being Shown on Instagram and Facebook

Since the launch of Threads, its parent company Meta has been actively promoting the social network on Instagram and Facebook. One of these promotions places random messages in threads in the middle of your other social networks. If I wanted to see Threads, Meta, I would open Threads.

It’s worth noting that Meta will show your posts in Topics on other platforms by default , even if you don’t use those apps . Even if you deleted your Facebook account a while ago, your Threads posts may still appear there. The last thing you want is for your family members who are on Facebook to look at your shitty Threads posts.

If you’re someone who wants to keep Threads away from friends and family on other Meta-owned platforms, here’s what to do.

Hide messages in topics from Facebook and Instagram

To remove Threads posts from people’s Facebook and Instagram feeds, you’ll have to change a few privacy settings. Open Themes and tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Next, tap the double-line icon in the top right to open Theme Settings, then select Privacy > Suggest Posts in Other Apps and turn off Instagram and Facebook .

If you want to grow your audience in Threads, you may want to leave this option enabled. After all, Meta is essentially offering you free promotion on its platforms. However, the balance here is difficult: more people may see your posts, but there is no guarantee that they will reach your target audience. While it’s good to have that kind of promotion, especially if you’re a content creator, you’re completely at the mercy of Facebook and Instagram’s algorithms.

Additionally, this setting will not prevent other people from posting from topics in your feeds. There is no solution for this problem yet. At the very least, if this setting is enabled, you remove your own posts from the meta circulation.
