You Can Try These New YouTube AI Features Now

Google is introducing artificial intelligence features into all its products one by one. Bard appears in apps like Docs, Sheets, and Gmail, and the AI arrived on Google Maps a couple of weeks ago. Now the AI revolution is coming to YouTube, but only to a limited group.

Google today announced it is testing two new YouTube AI features. These features are rolled out to a small group of testers first, so you may or may not see them right away. However, the company is also opening testing to YouTube Premium subscribers. If you pay for YouTube, you can try these two AI features in advance.

Summarize comments using AI

Once you have access to YouTube’s new AI features, a ✨Topics button will appear above your comments. Click on it and YouTube will automatically sort comments by “topics.” If multiple comments are saying the same thing, they will end up in one of these threads together. Google hopes the feature will make the clunky comment sections of viral videos easier to read.

Google used MrBeast’s ” 7 Days Stranded at Sea ” video as an example in its ad: When you select “Topics” for this video, you can see comments sorted by topic, such as “People love Brian the Bird”, “Lazerbeam should be in more videos,” “No Submarine,” and “More Seven Days of Testing.”

ChatGPT meets YouTube

It actually makes sense for YouTube to add the following. The company is testing a generative AI bot that you can use to ask questions about the current video you’re watching. There are plenty of similar tools already out there, including ChatGPT itself, but here you get the convenience of a bot built into the player without interrupting playback.

To call the bot, click the new Ask button and then ask. You can talk about what happens in the video, ask for recommendations for similar videos, or, if it’s an educational video, ask for quizzes to test your knowledge.
