You Can Create Live Wallpaper on Your Phone

If you are tired of static wallpapers, you can add a little zest to your smartphone by choosing live wallpapers, that is, using a live photo, gif or short video as wallpaper. However, before you decide to get started, you should know that this does have a slight impact on your phone’s battery life, and on older phones, it can also affect performance. But if that doesn’t bother you, here’s how to make a live wallpaper on iPhone and Android.

How to make live wallpaper on iPhone

You can easily convert any of your live photos into live wallpapers on your iPhone. Every photo you take is a Live Photo by default, and you can easily check this by opening the Camera app and looking at the icon in the top right corner. If the circle icon is yellow, Live Photos are enabled. If it is white and has a diagonal line through it, it is disabled. If the Live Photo feature is enabled, you can click photos and convert any of them into a live wallpaper.

It’s also quite easy to browse your collection of Live Photos on iPhone. Open the Photos app and go to the Albums tab. Scroll down and select Live Photos . You can select any of these photos, tap the Share icon, and tap Use as Wallpaper to make it your live wallpaper.

You can also do this by going to Settings > Wallpaper on your iPhone. Here you can select Add New Wallpaper , tap Photos, and tap Live Photo . Select your preferred photo and set it as background.

Convert videos or images into Live Photos

You can also convert videos or pictures into live photos. Apps like Giphy and TikTok allow you to save media as Live Photos, and you can use them as live wallpapers on your iPhone. There are several services that let you convert any video to a Live Photo, giving you a little more freedom in your choices. Both IntoLive and VideoToLive are good apps for this.

(You can also turn iPhone Live Photos into videos .)

Create live wallpapers on Android

To make a live wallpaper on Android, you can use one of many third-party apps. I tried a few and my favorite was Video to Wallpaper . It’s fast, easy to use, and doesn’t bombard you with full-screen ads. Once the app is installed, open it and tap the green + in the bottom right corner. A small menu will open where you can enter the name of the wallpaper and press Select to select a video from your phone. Once this is done, select “Video as Wallpaper” on the next page and you will see your preferred video as wallpaper on your phone.
