You Can Now Edit Your Posts in Topics

Unlike one poorly managed social network that requires you to pay for the right to correct typos , the Instagram Threads app now lets you edit your posts for free. Along with the ability to post voice messages, this is further evidence that Threads is catching up or ahead of X , formerly known as Twitter. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, which owns Instagram and Threads, recently announced that both of these features will be available to everyone . Here’s how they work.

How to edit your posts in topics

When you’re done posting something to Topics, go to the post and tap the three dots icon in the top right corner. A pop-up menu will open with a new Edit option. When you’ve finished editing the text, click the Publish button to save your changes. You can edit a message in Topics within five minutes after publication.

If you don’t see this option yet, try updating your Threads app. If it still doesn’t appear, you may have to wait a little longer.

How to post voice notes in topics

You can now also post voice messages to Threads. To do this, click the new Publish button (located between the magnifying glass and heart icons at the base of the display). Below the text field you will see a microphone icon. Click this button, give Threads access to your microphone, and start talking. If Threads understands you, it will suggest a transcription that you can add to your message. If he doesn’t understand your accent or language, he won’t be able to decipher your voicemail. You can still post a voice note to Threads without transcription.

There are currently no easy ways to save other people’s voicemails to Threads, but you can easily download photos and videos from Threads to iPhone as well as your Android device .
